The Austrian Film Institute has established a Green Filming Department to support Green filming and developed a “criteria catalog of the minimum ecological standards for Austrian audiovisual productions.” Filmmakers and production companies can receive a green bonus of 5% by meeting the established criteria for green production. This measure aims to contribute to national and European climate protection goals and establish ecologically sustainable production as a contemporary quality standard for funded films. The criteria and measures are based on the UZ76 Österreichisches Umweltzeichen “Green Producing in Film and Television” guideline, and are coordinated with the film industry.
